FAT-SCRAP APRIL 2010 DAY THREE

"Nothing tastes as good as being healthy and looking good feels"

Interestingly when people have asked me about FAT-SCRAP the biggest resistance to the Programme is giving up either the sugar or the alcohol or both! "Oh but sugary foods/alchohol make me feel good" is the usual comment..."I couldn't possibly give it/them up!"

Yes, I agee they do taste nice and do make us feel good..but for how long? How many times have you enjoyed these foods and then felt guilty or not so good for having them? They might make you feel good in the short term but in the long term....??? The question I ask is "Is the short term sacrifice of sugar/alcohol worth the cost if it is going to lead you having a healthier and fitter body in the long term?"

Oh yes Sue, it IS worth it!! I can vouch for that!

Three months into the plan I now rarely have either sugar or alcohol. In the first weeks I felt I was denying myself and although I was totally committed it was a struggle. Old habits, especially old mind-sets are hard to break.

Then I realised how much better I felt, how much more energy I had, how much fitter and healthier I was becoming. That's when things changed for me and it's what I think of now as I make my choices. I LOVE feeling like I do now and I never, ever believed I could feel this great.

So any new Fat Scrappers or potential ones reading this ....make this short term sacrifice and just wait for that amazing feeling to come! And trust me that as your weight and body fat reduces and your energy level rises you will be totally hooked on the feeling!! And it's worth more than ANY momentary sugar rush.

And you will be surprised at just how much your taste buds will change. After 3 months of hardly having any sugary foods I am amazed at how different a sugary food tastes now.

Yesterday I tried a taste of a shop bought cheesecake and profiteroles and I have to say there was nothing nice about them at all. Infact the two tiniest tastes I had left my mouth feeling coated with a taste that just seemed artificially, disgustingly sweet!

Brekkie: Muesili and rice milk. Snack: 5 brazil nuts, Lunch: tin of Heinz veg soup. Snack: 3 peanut butter oatcakes. Dinner: bacon wrapped chicken breast and yesterday's butternut squash roasted veg. Did a mile of walking about round a country house - hence the quick grag n run lunch, but bigger dinner to compensate! Would have probably had a couple of slices of wholemeal bread with the soup at lunch, so I am missing bread/wheat.

Hi Dusty, probably would have been a good idea to have had a bit more for a snack before lunch if you know you are going to not have a lot of time. A banana with the Brazil nuts would be a good choice. Good that you had the oatcakes and peanut butter later to keep you going.

You could benefit from eating a bit more fruit and vegetables on the whole to make sure you are getting enough vitamins, minerals and fibre and to make sure your body doesn't think it's on a diet!
