FAT-SCRAP TRIAL Day 4

Apple....
BREAKFAST: porridge with soya milk and large tablespoon of raspberries
LUNCH: Oatcakes with low fat houmous and slice of cucumber on each. Satsuma and half a bag of salt and vinegar snack a jacks. Did also have a bit of avocado but it wasn’t ripe enough so I threw most of it away.
DINNER: Vegetable stirfry made with asparagus, beans, spring onion, red chilli, ginger, carrot, cabbage, mushrooms, dried apricots, soy sauce and rice noodles. Handful of cashew nuts thrown in for protein.
SNACKS: banana, 3 dried apricots and a handful of lightly salted edname beans
EXERCISE: 1 hour walk at a leisurely pace but through the snow.

Had a really hard day today. Felt really down and craved sugar from lunch time onwards. Actually, I think it started just before lunch in the supermarket...I sent my children off to choose themselves some rolls for lunch and one of them very sweetly chose an apple turnover for me. He so proudly said ‘here mum, we know you love these!’ I did put it back and wasn’t tempted to stray off the diet plan but it was the first food I really missed and would have loved to have had. So from then on I craved sugar all day. I had an email from a friend (a very slim one) saying she was just going to tuck into a big box of biscuits left over from Xmas...why do slim people always say these things?! It wouldn’t have normally bothered me one bit but today I just feel a bit low. I reckon my system has finally realised I’m not going to put any sugar into it and its affecting my emotions a bit.

Don’t think this weather has helped either as the children’s school was closed again today. So I wasn’t able to make the training session today. My legs feel a bit better and so I was really looking forward to it. Never mind. There’s a saying I always remember on days like this...’Tomorrow is another day’. And it is. It will be different. It will be better! In fact not only is tomorrow another day its my favourite day of the week. I don’t work on a Thursday and it’s my yoga day! I do two classes...my idea of complete and total bliss! And I’m squeezing in a training session with Sue in between.
Tomorrow won’t just be another day, it will be a grrrr..eat day!!! There, I feel better already!

Pear….
BREAKFAST: Large bowl of natural yoghurt with raspberries, fresh apricot, blueberries and seeds
LUNCH: Crudites – Carrot, tomatoes, cucumber, hourmous and 2 oatcakes
DINNER: Thai Chicken Curry from the previous night
SNACKS: Handful of mixed nuts and 3 falafel with yoghurt, mint and cucumber.
EXERCISE: Dog walk for an hour and half an hour power walk on treadmill

Well what can I say about today….I really had a better nights sleep, only woke a couple of times but managed to get back to sleep straight away. The second time I thought I could hear the dog on the stairs whining and thought he wanted to go outside, so got up put my dressing gown on, went to the stairs, but no he wasn’t there. Went back to bed and realised it was my husband!! Is this diet making me go mad???

Well snow stopped play today…that is exercising with Sue and Apple! I don’t know if I was pleased or disappointed? I do know that my legs are very grateful for one more day of rest, also I know that I can put in more effort at tomorrows session! (YES 2 days exercise in a row…now I know I’m mad!!)

Headache still hanging around…did I really drink that much caffeine to have this effect on me? I’ve had about 4 cups of decaf coffee with soya milk to try to cheat my body into thinking its caffeine… but don’t think that’s working do you?

I had a very big test today, my daughter made some shortbread and flapjacks as she was home from school. Now usually I would have had at least one of each (well as a mum you have to make sure they taste alright!), but they’ve been on the side in the kitchen all day and I haven’t had one!!!! So proud of myself as they really did look good!
I know now I have quite good will power….just hope it lasts!

Me…
BREAKFAST: Porridge, berries, natural yoghurt, seeds
LUNCH: Tuna, salad leaves, red pepper, cherry tomatoes, olives, mixed beans, tomato and basil soup, orange
DINNER: Lamb curry with lentils, tomatoes, onions, coriander and yoghurt, brown rice, mixed vegetables.
SNACKS: banana with handful of walnuts
EXERCISE: Dog walk 40mins (easy), snow clearing 60 mins (medium)

Feeling very tired from sitting nearly all day at the computer. Shoulders and back ache, my body is definitely not designed to be inactive. It was a welcome relief to get outside and shovel snow..again!

I am noticing that I am much more organised with my cooking as I know that I am going to have to tell you what I am eating, and of course, I want to impress you!! I often plan my menus for the week when I know I am going to be especially busy, and this works brilliantly, but sometimes I just go with the flow and then find that meal times creep up on me and I have nothing prepared. Then it’s much more challenging to produce a well thought out, balanced, healthy meal for the family. Anyway, tonights curry was a huge success, we all loved it..and the great thing is that I cooked enough for me to have some for lunch tomorrow..yummmm

Good work girls, this was obviously the day for temptation and testing your willpower, or as I prefer to say..your desire. Here are two quotes I love about desire….

"In my experience, there is only one motivation, and that is desire. No reasons or principle contain it or stand against it."
-Jane Smiley

Desire moves us to action. The bigger the desire, the swifter the action. When we really want something, we get creative, and pull out all the stops. We engage our intelligence, we find the means to fulfill our desire. We become empowered.
