FAT-SCRAP APRIL 2010 DAY EIGHTEEN

Hi and welcome back!

An important part of this Programme is exercise, and for the first four weeks, the Programme asks you to commit to three training sessions a week with me but of course just two and a quarter hours of training sessions a week is not a lot of activity if you are sedentary for the other one hundred and three waking hours during the rest of the week!

If you do have a very inactive week, I urge you to think about either including more activity into your day, or if this is not possible, then an exercise session each day is a must. To lose body fat, there has to be a calorie deficit, in other words, the energy coming into the body must be lower than the energy that the body is using. Low calorie diets restrict the calories coming in but this is not a healthy way to lose weight, nor gain fitness. The emphasis of this Programme is healthy eating ...it only restricts the amount of least nutritious and least beneficial calories coming in, therefore our calorie deficit is coming from the exercise we are doing and our general activity throughout the day. This means that the more active you can be, the more likely it will be that you will lose those extra pounds of fat! And, as you get stronger and fitter, your body becomes more efficiant at burning calories (your metabolism increases)and you even burn more calories when you are asleep!

So, just as you have been making changes to give yourself the best fuel every day, now it's time to make changes to give yourself the best exercise every day!

You deserve to be fit and healthy and your body will thank you for it!!!

Hi everyone!

Feeling much more energetic today after a bit of a funny turn yesterday!! Was ok all day and then felt incredibly tired in the evening and had a really heavy headache. Not sure why as I so rarely get headaches, but its that wonderful time of the month again and I think it may all be related to that.

Anyway, went to bed at 9.30 which is VERY early for me!! Must have needed it as I was asleep within moments.

Going to make sure I keep really hydrated today and keep my blood sugar level as stable as possible as I know this will help.

As a result of not feeling great and a very busy weekend with my son's birthday party, I haven't been able to do much exercise. Did do a fair bit of walking over the last few days though...just not up to my usual level of exercise.

Never mind! Boys are back to school tomorrow so I can get back into a bit of a routine for a month or so.

See you all soon! xx

B/F; Nakd berry bar - really rich but not as cloying as the chocolate one Sue gave me to try the other week. Fruit tasted good in the bar. Snack: 2 handfuls of unsalted Pistachio nuts - they kept saying eat me - so I did!
Training session in the sun with Sue, enjoyed that. Lunch: Tried Sue's lentil & butternut squash - really nice and spicy, lots of flavour - thanks Sue for that! Lunch cont'd: handful of watercress, with 3 chopped radishes, chopped ham, olive oil dressing and 3/4 small chunks of Feta cheese. It's good to have Feta back, but it was odd how salty it tasted - yet before I hadn't noticed that so much. Tea: chopped sausages and bacon with veg pasta and carton of chopped tomatoes with basil.
Feels like I am getting back to me and a routine, which I am pleased about.

Snack: Handful of cashew nuts
Lunch: lettuce, tomatoes, celery, cucumber, sweetcorn, grapes, salmon, balsamic vinegar, oatcakes

Hi Apple lovely to hear from you, hope you are feeling better now. Unlike you not to want to exercise much so you must be poorly!

Dusty, good that you ate the extra nuts for snack as you had a very small breakfast (unless you went for one of the larger bars!) I like to crumble the bars into natural yoghurt for a change. Great traning today with Pear and Mara, well done all of you, especially with your short bursts of running!!

Mandy, great training from you yesterday too! Funny how you all seem to like the boxing! I wonder if you were tired from the training or maybe a bit dehydrated? Hope you sleep well and feel more energised tomorrow.

Jayne, know you are feeling low today and missing your daughter...big hugs x x
