FAT-SCRAP APRIL 2010 DAY FOUR

Spring is a time of new beginnings and it seems appropriate that some of you are beginning your FAT-SCRAP journey at this time. Beginning a new journey can be exciting bringing the promise of new experiences, new possibilities, new outcomes while it can also be scary remembering old fears from past expereinces, old doubts, old failures.

So, today, whether you are just beginning your journey or are well on the way,  I invite you to share with us how you are going to, or continuing to, enjoy each day of this journey of health and fitness in a positive and excited frame of mind.

B/F: Muesli & rice milk. Went for an enjoyable 2 mile walk with friend and hound. Snack of 3 peanut butter oat cakes. Lunch: I had a Free From sandwich with ham, rocket and 2 tomatoes. Apple to finish with. Free from 'bread' is dry, so as long as I don't eat the crusts (!) it's bearable! Made the apple all the more nicer, with its juicy flavour. I think because I'm a wheat girl I saw the Free From range didn't have dairy, gluten or wheat - so just bought it - Sue has explained it's not really a healthier option - I think I just felt desperately happy to find an alternative I grabbed it. Hmm area to work on for me!! But since I have bought some rice cakes and more oat cakes today - hopefully I shall have these instead of thinking of bread/wheat things. Snack: 5 brazil nuts. Exercise with Sue in pm! Tea: Organic beef burger, with rocket and sauteed mushrooms - that was really nice.

I'd like to introduce you all to one of our new fatscrappers, Mandy, who has been having problems with her pc so has asked me to post her diaries here for her, so over to Mandy...

Right, here goes. Day 1

Breakfast: porridge made with unsweetened soya milk, topped with a chopped banana and organic hemp seeds
Snack: Sue's flapjack (yummy!)
Lunch: Salad: rocket, spinach, watercress, mashed avocado, tinned mackerel in brine, radishes, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, celery and 4 organic oatcakes
Snack: Sue's flapjack (sorry Sue, couldn't resist two in one day - I will certainly be making these myself)
Supper: Grilled chicken breast (skinless) sauted potatoes, swede, steamed peas, followed by fresh raspberries and strawberries

I did my first exercise with Sue last night and today I feel as though I have been in a boxing match! - I ache from muscles I never knew I had - but I enjoyed it nevertheless. Food today, I enjoyed my food and feel that I made OK food choices but I am open to suggestions! Looking forward to my second exercise session tomorrow.

Well done girls, some great choices here!

Dusty, its a good idea to have some of the alternative wheat free porducts to hand for when you really fancy something like that but we are trying to help you make alternative choices from the usual sandwich etc and encourage you to fill up on more vegetables so for example instead of the bread filled with a bit of salad, a healthier option would be a salad with a bit of bread or other starchy carbohydrate. Remember we want you to become more hydrated too so eating more vegetables will add bring more water to your diet.
Good going tonight,...no, Dusty's husband, I didn't make her sweat as needed to assess her fitness and technique but watch this space!!! x

Mandy, hope the aches are just reminding you that your body is just not used to doing exercise but the good thing is you will ache less the more you do..won't she!! Lovely food choices and great that you enjoyed them..so important that you enjoy both your food and exercise choices then you will be sending the right messages to your body..and enjoying your journey! x

Good morning all and can't wait to meet the new Fat Scrappers. I have had a week off exercise and actually have to admit i have missed my sessions with Sue - i have only been dog-walking. Food choices have been iffy too at times and i haven't written down as much as i should so back to it this week. Let's put it this way Dusty and Mandy i am a slow learner and my journey is going to take longer but hey.......i have learnt so much already but Sue will tell you i do still have some goodies....but my thoughts, exercise, water intake, food choices, etc have all changed for the better and i suppose if I am honest i am 75% there. I hope i will meet you tomorrow at Sue's. Good luck and we are all here for each other. xx
