FAT-SCRAP APRIL 2010 DAY SEVEN

"Success is a personal definition, it's about how you feel." -Lissa Coffey

I used to struggle with the word success and what it meant. People often asked me "How is your business going, how many clients do you have now?" and I would answer them and then ask myself "I wonder what they think? How many clients would it take for them to judge me as succcessful?" Eventually I realised that it didn't really matter how many clients I had and that people were probably not judging me, just asking out of interest, curiosity or just for converstation, but what did matter was how I felt about how busy I was. Afterall, I would hardly feel successful if I had so many clients that I couldn't cope! So, my answer now is "I have as many clients as I can manage at the moment" or "I have some clients at the moment and I could manage a few more " and I know that as I say this I feel confident and happy with where I am ...and if I feel confident and happy, then I feel successful!

So what's got to happen for you to feel successful on this Programme? Is it really all about a number on the scales being a measure of your success or can you measure your success on how you are feeling? If you are feeling happy because you are feeling a little bit fitter or stronger, or you feel you have more energy, or a more positive outlook, or feeling proud of some of the choices you have made, or more empowered and confident perhaps, can you say today that you feel successful?
Looking forward to hearing about your successes!!

Hi everyone!!

Success? Thank you Sue for asking us to look at this and what it means to us. Here is what it is like to me...

Feeling that I can jump out of bed in the morning, full of energy.

Being able to go further into yoga postures that I knew before were frustratingly restricted by my size.

To look in the mirror and think I look ok rather than working out whether, if I really hold my tummy in I can just get away with wearing this outfit.

Watching the scales go down which is not my main focus at all but boy it feels good to be lighter than I have been for 20 years!

5. Feeling confident and happy when I walk into a room. To feel I am not being judged because I am fat.

and more importantly for me...

Success for me is about loving and accepting 'me' - knowing that how I live my life, what I eat, how I exercise, the people I spend my time with, the things I like to do...is all a reflection on how I love and nuture myself.

Success for me is about living in the moment - my moment - letting go of any guilt and regret I have about the past, dismissing any worries I have about the future and just being present in the here and now.

Success is knowing I am not perfect in everyone's eyes but I am perfect in my own. With that comes the confidence, strength and positive thinking which can get me through any challenge I face. When I feel I have achieved this I have really made it! And I'm getting there, slowly but surely, I am definitely getting there.

Have you tried....Black Bean Crackers and Soya Nuts both from Tesco in Chineham? They are on the wholefood shelf opposite the cakes and they are delicious!! There is also something psychologically satisfying about turning your back on those sugar laden cakes and choosing the healthy option instead!

One more thing girls and boys....

I have a big problem which I am thrilled about! Hmm, sounds odd huh? And a problem which (sounds cruel I know) I want you ALL to have too. In fact, if you stick to this plan I KNOW you will all have it too.....

None of my clothes fit me!!! I have not been this slim for 20 years so I literally do not have ANYTHING to wear!! It gave me great pleasure to try on every pair of jeans I own and to see that they are all way too big. In fact my biggest ones are hilarious, with a little jump up and down I can drop them to my ankles without undoing them! The charity shop will do well out of me and I'm so excited about having to buy some new summer clothes!

Can't wait for you all to have the same 'problem' as me and I'm sure some of you are there already!

BF: I fancied the Free From muffins with 2 turkey rashers and 2 poached eggs - so I made it. Well the Free From muffins were dry and disgusting, so I ended up eating just the rashers and eggs! Really disappointed. Lunch: bowl of yougurt with frozen raspberries, handful of golden linseed and sunflower seeds chucked in. Had a very lazy day, so didn't rush about too much. Tea: sausage and chips (from the chip shop). Lovely jubbly!

From Mandy...

Today was a very busy day. Food shopping in the morning (boring I know) and my exercise session with Sue late afternoon. I simply love the exercises that we do, I get a real buzz from them. Not sure what I am up to over the weekend but I will endeavour to incorporate some physical activitiy into my schedule. Here are todays food choices:

Breakfast: sauteed potatoes, mushrooms and tomatoes with grilled bacon (lovely)
Snack: a handful of almonds
Lunch: Green salad (rocket, spinach and watercress) tinned sardines, tomatoes, celery, cucumber, beetroot and spring onions. Balsamic vinegar dressing
Snack: a handful of cashew nuts
Supper: grilled salmon steak, peas and homemade chuncky chips (fried in rapeseed oil)

Today again Mandy you have been doing things a fit and healthy person would do, eating healthy foods and exercising, fantastic! And so good to hear how fantastic you are feeling!!
Choosing oily fish today is a bonus as fish oils are thought to help encourage the body to burn fat...and all those good fats are thought to help balance the saturated fats.x
